Gearing Up, Getting a Telescope Ready

We are finally getting the parts from our robotic telescope! This page will follow the construction and setup of our robotic telescope.

Where is the telescope going?

Our telescope is being placed at the Sierra Remote Observatories facility located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains at 4610 feet.

Equipment

Currently we have a good bit of our equipment, the majority of it is still boxed and not set up. However, we will soon have a photos of the equipment being built.

Camera

Here is the camera we will be using! It is still all boxed up in it’s protective case, but we can tell you a little about it. The camera is an SBIG Aluma AC4040 Class 1 Large Format Scientific CMOS camera, by Diffraction Limited.

Filter

The filter we are using with our camera is an SBIG AFW-10-50SQ 50mm Square AFW Filter Wheel.

Workstation

Our workstation is not setup yet, but this picture contains all of the equipment that will go into it. The core of the system is an HP Desktop Mini, a backup UPS, and an external storage enclosure.
